She liked the fabric but didn't think her husband would want to sit in the kitchen and see a bunch of flowers. So I suggested we gather the floral into a serpentine valance, staple it on a 1 x 4 board and add fringe.

No Flowers Please!

Let the Sun Shine In
The homeowner loves window coverings
but does not like to block the light.
She decided to have us make 1/2 cut panels instead of using a full 54" width of fabric.
I'm glad she did.
We constructed the cornices/lambrequines 12" wider than the windows, to just frame the windows.
Yes, push back the drapes Mary and let the sunshine in.

Legends
This fabric is fabulous!
Imagine using it on an Upholstered Cornice or a flat Roman Shade.
Talk about making a statement. The fabric's pattern repeat is 27" horizontal and 27.8" vertical That equates to each "blocked personality" being 4" wide and 4" tall.
Can you see it being used for this shade?
Wish I would have seen the fabric "Legends" before I selected this for my kitchen cornice pictured below.

Shape Up and Get Curves without the Bulk
by using a shaped cornice.
Create a softer finish.
Getting the right shape is so important. If your room has wide windows or very straight lines you can create visual interest by using a shapely cornice.
Trying to cut cost?
A cornice is the way to go if you have a fabric that's very expensive.
Most cornices take about 2 yards

Soft Cornices
These are soft cornices. When we make soft cornices we use a stiff liner. Most cornices we make are upholstered on plywood.
